THE STUDIO RESET

STEP 2 - THE DIRECTION

You don’t need a full plan. You just need a direction.

Hey,

If you’ve just come from Step 1…

you’ve probably cleared more than you realised

Even just getting things out of your head
and letting a few things go

can create a bit of space

This step is about gently filling that space again
but in a way that actually feels manageable

Let’s keep this simple

You don’t need to figure out your whole art career

You don’t need a 5-year plan

You don’t need to map out every idea you’ve ever had

You just need to decide:

👉 what matters right now

Because this is usually where things go wrong

We try to do everything at once

A new body of work
plus finishing old pieces
plus posting consistently
plus learning something new

And then we wonder why we feel stuck

So instead

We’re going to choose less

on purpose

Before you keep going…

Pause for a second

Out of everything that’s left from Step 1…

what actually feels exciting?

Not what should matter
What actually pulls you in

✏️ Your turn

Go back to the 1–3 things you marked as alive

Now ask yourself:

  • Which one feels the most natural to start?

  • Which one do I keep thinking about?

  • Which one feels the least forced?

Now choose your focus

Pick:

👉 1 main focus
👉 (optional) 1 secondary focus

That’s it

A small note here

Choosing one thing doesn’t mean the others don’t matter

It just means:

👉 they’re not the focus right now

You can come back to them later

Now let’s talk about your season

Because your life matters here too

Your energy matters
Your time matters

This isn’t about forcing a routine that doesn’t fit

✏️ Your turn

Ask yourself:

  • What does my life actually look like right now?

  • How much time do I realistically have?

  • When do I feel most creative?

Based on that

Choose a simple rhythm

Not a strict schedule

Just something like:

• a couple of short sessions a week
• one longer session when you can
• or even just small pockets of time

Keep it light

You’re not trying to prove anything here

You’re just creating a direction that feels possible to follow

If you’re unsure…

That’s okay

You don’t need perfect clarity

You just need enough direction to begin

What this step is doing

Instead of feeling pulled in every direction

You now have:

👉 something to focus on
👉 a sense of where your energy is going
👉 a rhythm that fits your life

And that changes everything

Because clarity creates momentum

When you’re ready

Move on to the next step

(A small note for later)

If you’re thinking
“I wish I had somewhere to keep track of these projects…”

Hold that thought

We’ll bring it all together in Step 4 🤍
