THE STUDIO RESET
STEP 3 - THE PRACTICE
You don’t need more motivation. You need a way of working that actually fits your life.
Hey,
By now you’ve:
cleared some space
chosen what matters
and given yourself a direction
And this is usually the point where things either start moving…
or quietly stall again
Not because you don’t care
but because life gets in the way
or it suddenly feels harder than expected
So this step is about making it easier to actually show up
Let’s be honest for a second
Most of us don’t struggle with knowing what to do
We struggle with:
starting
continuing
and showing up when it doesn’t feel perfect
So we’re going to remove some pressure
Because pressure is usually what stops the work from happening
The pressure to:
make something good
finish something quickly
prove something
be consistent in a perfect way
Instead
We’re just focusing on:
👉 showing up
👉 in a way that feels doable
Before you keep going…
Pause for a second
What usually stops you from starting?
Is it time?
Energy?
Overthinking?
Perfection?
Just notice it
✏️ Your turn
Let’s make this really simple
Think about your life right now
Not your ideal routine
your actual one
Choose your version of showing up
Something like:
• 20–30 minutes here and there
• one longer session a week
• small moments when you can
There’s no right answer here
Just something you’ll actually do
Now remove the expectation
When you sit down to create
You’re not aiming to:
finish something
make something good
share it
You’re just aiming to:
👉 begin
A small shift that helps
Instead of asking:
“What am I going to make today?”
Try:
“What can I start today?”
Or even smaller
“What’s the easiest way back into this?”
Because momentum builds quietly
It’s not one big session
or one perfect piece
It’s small, repeated returns
If you feel stuck when you sit down
Try this:
set a timer for 10 minutes
pick up where you left off
or just make marks without thinking
You don’t need to feel ready
You just need to start
And if you miss a day (or a week)
Nothing has gone wrong
You’re not back at the beginning
You just… start again
This isn’t about discipline
It’s about creating a way of working that supports you
Not something you constantly feel like you’re failing at
What this step is doing
You’re building:
👉 a rhythm that fits your life
👉 a way of starting without overthinking
👉 a practice you can actually return to
And that’s where consistency comes from
Not pressure
Not forcing it
Just something that feels possible to come back to
When you’re ready
Move on to the final step
(A small note for later)
If you’re already thinking
“I wish I had somewhere to keep track of what I’m making…”
That’s coming next
