Meet Sam Walton

Sam Walton is an Australian artist, educator and creative business owner based in Toowoomba, Queensland. Known for her vibrant, expressive paintings inspired by flowers and the natural world, her work has been collected across Australia and internationally and exhibited in galleries throughout the country.

Working across acrylic paint, collage, oil pastel, pencil and ink, Sam creates layered artworks that celebrate colour, movement and connection. Rather than creating literal representations of her subjects, she is drawn to capturing the feeling, energy and beauty found within them.

"I don't paint flowers because I want to capture what they look like. I paint them because I want to capture how they feel."

For more than a decade, Sam has built a career in the creative industries as an artist, workshop facilitator, mentor and storyteller. Through her art practice, workshops and conversations on The Rural Compass podcast, she has encouraged artists, business owners and aspiring creatives to pursue their ideas with confidence and authenticity.

Having navigated motherhood, regional living and the many twists and turns that come with building a creative career, Sam is passionate about showing that a life in the arts is possible. Her work is grounded in the belief that creativity has the power to bring people together, spark conversation and create meaningful connection.

"Art has always been the way I make sense of the world and connect with the people in it."

Today, Sam continues to create, teach and exhibit while helping others reconnect with their own creativity through art, education and community.

My Vision

To use art as a catalyst for connection, encouraging people to slow down, see beauty differently, and embrace their own creativity.
